Our consulting rooms are located near Southern Cross Hospital for easy access (view map). The Hernia Clinic is dedicated to the investigation and treatment and repair of hernia related problems.  Hernia repair and other procedures are carried out at either the Southern Cross Hospital or St. Georges Hospital, which are both purpose-built, to provide the most up to date equipment for both laparoscopic surgical repair and all other surgical procedures.

Ross Roberts: MBChB, FRACS – Hernia Surgeon

Ross Roberts has a particular interest and a large experience in hernia repair. He specialised in General Surgery gaining Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 1995 followed by international post Fellowship experience in Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. When laparoscopic hernia repair became feasible in the 1990’s (with the improvements in technology and techniques) this method gradually became the most popular way to repair inguinal hernias. He has maintained a full, prospective audit of outcomes following hernia repair to ensure the quality of his practice as a Christchurch-based hernia repair specialist.
